President’s Message:

Greetings, Fellow IACA Members,

Usually, I would begin by recapping the wonderful past month's social at St. Michaels and the IACA-sponsored event, Day at the Races, at Colonial Downs in New Kent.

However, it is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I must inform you all of the recent passing of our dear and beloved friend, Christine Iacometta, wife of my friend and fellow Board member, Joe Iacometta.

Christine was a special person in every aspect of her life. She was always pleasant as Joe's companion, welcoming and greeting members as they entered each month's socials. Christine was also very helpful in the kitchen in the preparation and distribution of place settings and food at the socials. Chris had a very special talent for baking, especially her famous Crumb Cake, which she loved to make for IACA socials, and members could not get enough of it. She will be greatly missed by all, and we wish her eternal rest and peace. Please continue to keep Christine, Joe, and the Iacometta family in your prayers.

I want to be brief about the upcoming IACA events. In September, our annual picnic will take place at St. Michael's on September 28th. A reminder that several IACA members will be attending the Sons of Italy Lodge in Blauvelt, NY's annual 4-day Italian Festival. Details can be found in the May/June newsletter on the IACA website. Lastly, please see the article in this newsletter of an open invitation to all IACA members to celebrate Columbus Day weekend at the Ciao Social Club's picnic in Williamsburg on October 12th.

Respectfully,

Rick Gentile
