President’s Message:

Greetings to All,

It's hard for me to believe that it’s been almost a year since I was elected as your President of The Italian-American Cultural Association of Virginia. I consider this position an honor and a privilege, and I will continue to move this wonderful organization forward in an enjoyable and family-like manner.

We continued in 2025 to provide numerous successful socials along with outside activities for our members and friends. IACA was invited to and attended the Sons of Italy Lodge’s annual 4-day Italian Festival in September, in Blauvelt, New York. The event was highlighted with a visit to the site where IACA's admired Columbus Statue resides on the Lodge's grounds.

In October, 38 members and friends were bused from Richmond to Washington, DC, to participate in the Catholic Church's Jubilee 2025, Pilgrims of Hope. We visited the St. John Paul II National Shrine. The highlight of the pilgrimage was visiting the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. The group attended mid-day Mass and toured the church to appreciate its sacred art, unique architecture, and richness in Catholic and American culture. Many thanks to IACA member Ginger Todero, who spent many hours organizing and promoting the event.

We close the year in November with a luncheon at Capriccios Italian Restaurant in the West End, followed by IACA's popular Christmas Dolce Party in December. IACA membership continues to grow and includes some new, youthful members, such as our Foreign Exchange students from the University of Richmond.

I’ll close by wishing each and every one of you a Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas, and a Happy and healthy New Year.

Regards,

Rick Gentile
